Without warning, the FA board of Trustees and Committees had reached a decision not to provide funding towards the England Futsal Deaf Women's squad which was bizarre considering that we had finished a creditable 4th place at the European Deaf Futsal Championships in Finland on December 2018, despite several odds stacked against us such as missing key players and injuries. And we had qualified for the World Deaf Futsal Championships! The article can be found here. The move by the FA had completely devastated us for we would now be forced to self-fund should we enter prestigious futsal events in the near future.
However, both the England Deaf Men’s and Women's Futsal teams shall be representing the nation with pride in partaking in the 6th European Deaf Futsal Championship at Montesilvano, Italy on November 2022. Should the number of preliminary applications received exceed 16 teams for Men and 12 teams for Women, then a Mini-Tournament (comprising of four teams) shall take place otherwise all teams will go straight to the elite competition. The mini-tournaments are expected to take place between November 2021 and March 2022. From previous experience, I expect both the Men’s and Women’s teams to be involved in the qualifying stages. So, therefore, we shall be preparing our training camps pretty soon after the pandemic outbreak has come to an end. And we would need to 'self-fund' ourselves to enable England to take their rightful place in this prestigious European Championships. In this respect, we would need funding support on an enormous scale to cover the costs for the mini-tournaments and the elite competition.
To help promote our worthy cause, we will need your kind donations to allow us to attend both the mini-tournaments and European Deaf Futsal Championship 2022.
