The words don't exist that can adequately express our love and sympathy for friends when the unimaginable happens. That's when our actions can do the talking for us.
On February 13th, Joeleen and James lost their daughter, Emma Corrales Lee. After Joeleen went into early labor, she needed to have an emergency c-section. Despite the heroic efforts of the NICU at Hackensack Hospital, Emma passed away in the loving arms of her amazing parents.
If you are reading this, odds are that you know James and Joeleen. And if you know them, then I can say with absolute certainty that they have had an impact on your lives. They are dedicated to their family and are constantly there for their friends. They are people who actively give back to their community, volunteering their time and talents whenever they can help others. Joeleen has helped to shape many young lives through her work as a teacher at Unity Charter School.
Right now, as they begin the long road to healing, they need the continued love and support you have have already shown them as they’ve gone through this ordeal. No one knows what to say when something like this happens because there are no words powerful enough to convey our emotions. That's why I'm asking you to consider contributing something to this fund to cover the medical expenses that Joeleen and James are facing. The absolute last thing they should be worrying about right now is an OR or NICU bill, the cost of an ambulance ride, or just the cost of time spent starting to heal, physically and emotionally.
All donations will go to support Emma and Joeleen’s medical expenses and provide a cushion during Joeleen's recovery. Any leftover funds will be donated to the March of Dimes, an organization dedicated to preventing premature births and the Forget Me Not Foundation, dedicated to supporting families who have lost babies during pregnancy, birth, or shortly after birth.
