Emily Zambrano es una dulce niña de 16 años a la que le diagnosticaron Osteosarcoma (cáncer de huesos en niños) el pasado Noviembre. Emily es estudiante de la Kennedy High School en el lado suroeste de Chicago. Esta recaudación de fondos se inició para ayudar a sus padres con los gastos de subsistencia y los costos médicos de Emily en los que se incurre a través de sus tratamientos de quimioterapia. Emily se encuentra actualmente en Lurie Children's hospital recibiendo el mejor tratamiento médico posible y no podrá pasar la Navidad con su familia ya que el dolor es demasiado insoportable para manejarlo en casa.
El cáncer infantil es la segunda causa principal de muerte entre los niños, por lo que la educación y la conciencia sobre el cáncer infantil es tan importante. Los cánceres infantiles ocurren repentinamente, pero también tienen una alto porcentaje de curación con los tratamientos adecuados. Todos sabemos que nuestro sistema de atención médica no funciona y que el estrés emocional de un ser querido enfermo solo se ve agravado por la pandemia que estamos viviendo todos y por los crecientes gastos por los que pasa un padre para salvar a su hijo mientras tiene que seguir trabajando para garantizar que no pierda los beneficios del seguro ( que no cubre todos los gastos).
Con el espíritu de dar, esperamos que pueda encontrar en su corazón donar mientras luchamos para salvar a Emily. No importa que tan grande o pequeña sea su donación, todo ayuda.

Emily Zambrano is a sweet 16-year old girl who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer in Children) this past November. Emily is a student at Kennedy High School in Chicago's Southwest side. This fundraiser was started to help her parents with living expenses and Emily's medical costs that are being incurred through her chemo treatments. Emily is currently at Lurie Children's hospital receiving the best medical treatment possible and will not be able to spend Christmas with her family as the pain is too unbearable to manage at home.
Childhood cancer is the second leading cause of death among children, which is why education and awareness about childhood cancer is so important. Childhood cancers occur suddenly, without early symptoms, they also have a high rate of cure with the right treatments. We all know that our healthcare system is broken and the emotional stress of a sick loved one is only made worse by the pandemic we are all living in and also by the increasing expenses a parent goes through to save their child while having to continue working to ensure they don't lose the insurance benefits (that does not cover all the expenses).
