UPDATED: Emergency Spinal Surgery for Our Beautiful Boy
Donation protected
UPDATE: A huge thank you to everyone that helped with your generous donations ❤️ Buddy has now had his surgery and is doing very well! He is making great progress and is able to walk, albeit a bit wobbly at the moment. As part of his recovery he needs 6-8 weeks crate rest which he is adjusting to very well. We can’t thank you all enough and are eternally grateful for everyone’s support ❤️
Hi, its Graeme and Rachel, and we're reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for our sweet dog, Buddy.
Just recently, our lives were turned upside down when Buddy, our loving 7-year-old companion, suddenly lost the use of his back legs. One moment he was wagging his tail and enjoying being a middle-aged dog, and the next, he was struggling to stand. After rushing him to the emergency vet, we were told the devastating news that Buddy has a condition called IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), which has left him paralysed in his hind legs.
Buddy isn’t just a pet, he’s family and he has been there through some of the hardest times. He’s goofy, loyal, and still full of life and it absolutely breaks our heart to see him confused and unable to walk.
The vet has confirmed that immediate spinal surgery is his best chance at walking again. Without it, the prognosis is grim and time is critical. The cost of the imaging, surgery, hospitalisation, and post-op care is more than we can afford on our own, totaling just short of $10,000. We have already spent what we can on diagnostics and emergency care and are now trying to find ways to pay for the rest potentially through friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers.
Any amount of donation would be so helpful. If you can’t donate, sharing this page with your friends and on social media can make a huge difference too. We just want to be able to bring Buddy home.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, donating, and supporting us in any way you can.
With gratitude,
Graeme, Rachel & Buddy ❤️
