We are the daughters of Stephen May, and we are reaching out in a moment of absolute desperation.
Our father, a 65-year-old retired English teacher originally from Kirkby, is currently in a critical condition in an ICU in Buriram, Thailand.
Following a stroke, our father suffered a fall that resulted in a traumatic head injury. The impact caused massive swelling on his brain. To save his life, surgeons had to perform an emergency decompressive craniotomy—a procedure where a portion of the skull is removed to allow the brain to swell without causing further permanent damage.
He is currently unconscious and on a ventilator. The next 48 to 72 hours are vital. Because he was required to retire from teaching due to his age, his long-term medical coverage ended, leaving him without a safety net for a catastrophe of this scale. Our father has worked hard his entire life.
The immediate cost for the surgery, ICU stay, and the critical aftercare needed to get him to a stable condition as of now is £9,500.
We hope to get him stable enough to bring him home so that we can look after him. Every pound donated goes directly to the hospital for his treatment.
Please help us give our dad a chance to wake up and come home.
