Emergency Home Relocation

I am a single mom and a veteran. Almost 18 years ago I got a great job, and was doing fairly well. Eight months ago I was laid off. I have been looking for a job and was rambling by until about 2 months ago, when my resources were exhausted. I have begged and borrowed to stay afloat, but my rent is just way to high - especially for no income. I have recently gained employment, but it's a little late. I am facing eminent eviction, as in by the first of October (I expect to come home any day to a locked door). I have sought help from the VA but that hasn't come through. Not to mention that I can't even talk to a landlord without paying an application fee - which I do not have. I have about a week to secure an apartment, and move. I currently have barely enough money to put gas in my car to get to my new job. But moving costs money. Free boxes still need tape - and that doesn't even take into account transporting things...which I currently have no place to take to. This is the most desperate thing I have ever done, but through this process I have gained humility, and realized nothing happens if you don't ask. My son is 14 years old. My goal is to keep a roof over his head, so he can worry about being a kid and going to school, knowing he has a place to come home to. Thank you.
