Flood relief for Aileu, Timor-Leste

Our friends in Aileu need you help urgently. Please donate to this Friends of Aileu flood relief appeal.
Appeal closing update: Last round of funding from this appeal wasused to provide local farmers with tools and materials to repair irrigation assets and gardens, and to provide houeholds with further roofing sheets.
The extreme weather causing the devastating floods in Dili, Timor-Leste, has also had a severe impact in Aileu, where the roads linking the main town to outlying areas and to Dili are all cut by flooding and landslides.
In Aileu, houses have been lost, electricity, water supply and internet connections have yet to be restored. Many rice fields and vegetable gardens have been inundated or washed away completely.
The Municipal Administration, government departments and NGO's on the ground and community organisations are working together to provide relief to the most severely affected households, restore services and repair roads to allow supplies to be transported from Dili and agricultural products to be sent to Dili.
The Aileu Municipal Administrator and Aileu Friendship Commission have asked the Friends of Aileu for any assistance we can provide to help with this relief effort. They will use our contribution to purchase additional roofing iron, cement, steel reinforcing bars, rice, oil and other household supplies.
Further details on use and distribution of the relief supplies will be provided through the Friendship Commission, once a better assessment of the damage and priority needs has been made.
Donations to this appeal will be received by Morleand City Council, with the Friends of Aileu ensuring 100% of funds donated go to the Aileu for agreed uses, as authorised by the Municipal Administrator and the Friendship Commission
