Emergency appeal! Please help Carolina & E.

Emergency appeal! Please consider helping our friend Carolina and her 8-year old daughter E, who arrived home yesterday to find their apartment totally destroyed by fire and the water needed to extinguish it. While no person was injured, E is inconsolable at the loss of her pet fish. Carolina is a hard working immigrant mother with very limited resources. She works at a nonprofit in the South Bronx, helping other immigrants build skills to improve their lives. Her friends and colleagues are doing all they can to help the family, but many of them also live on very tight budgets. We hope to raise enough funds to help Carolina find another apartment near her daughter’s school, pay the apartment deposit and 2-3 months of rent as well as furnishings, clothes, toiletries and school supplies. While we cannot undo the trauma of the family’s losses, we aspire to ease their stress during this devastating time by offering them love and solidarity. Please help us to provide Carolina and E a helping hand.

Por favor, considere ayudar a nuestra amiga Carolina y a su hija de 8 años E, que llegaron a casa ayer para encontrar su apartamento totalmente destruido por el fuego y el agua necesaria para extinguirlo. Aunque ninguna persona resultó herida, E es inconsolable por la pérdida de su pez mascota. Carolina es una madre inmigrante trabajadora con recursos muy limitados. Trabaja en una organización sin ánimo de lucro en el sur del Bronx, ayudando a otros inmigrantes a desarrollar habilidades para mejorar sus vidas. Sus amigos y colegas están haciendo todo lo posible para ayudar a la familia, pero muchos de ellos también viven con presupuestos muy ajustados.
