Marie's Semester in Strasbourg, France
As most of
you know, I am a student at Oral Roberts University, double-majoring
in Graphic Design and French. I'm excited to see how God will combine
these two passions once I step into my future career!
If you know
me fairly well, you are aware of the extent of my love for the beautiful French
language and my desire to solidify my knowledge of the language in a way that
only living in that culture can do.
In
light of this, it is my intention to spend a semester abroad studying at the
University of Strasbourg in France during the fall of 2013. I believe that a
semester abroad is indubitably valuable and vitally necessary to my mental,
academic, social, and cultural growth as a young woman who will soon begin a
career in an increasingly international work environment.
Studying
in France will not only allow me to become fluent in a language that has
captured my love, but will also open many doors to experiencing cultures
different from my own. While I am there, I hope to visit many of the nearby
countries, including Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, and England. I will get to
experience life and peek into the thinking processes of people who are not
American, which will be of incredible value to my future design career. I will
also have the opportunity to visit countless museums and historical sites where
I can learn firsthand about the culture, history, art, and life of the people
who came before us and contributed to who we all are today.
