Medical Fund for Crohns Treatment
Don protégé
Stelara is a biologic injection that I have been currently prescribed to aid in my ongoing battle with Crohns Disease. It is a very expensive medication which I cannot afford even with insurance. I've been denied assistance with the company, the manufacturer and numerous agencies that sometimes offer patient help. I currently receive Social Security Disability in the amount of $1,100 per month. This, is over the amount one can receive to qualify for assistance on the state and local level, though we are appealing. My co-pay is $750 and I must receive a shot every 8 weeks. My doctor has given me my first shot 8 weeks ago and will administer a shot on Wednesday from the manufacturer samples. Although, I was informed he wont be able to do this for the next 6 injections I will need. The ongoing appeal will hopefully bring about success but we know that at least for the next two injections I will need to somehow cover my co-payment. I receive so much help financially grom my sister and parents I fear having them help me further could cause them issue. My Crohns is severe. Its become debilitating and without treatment I have no chance of remission. It is with a humble heart and exhausted body I make this plea. I do not expect help, but am at a very stressful point in my treatment and have been encouraged to reach out. Please know that my gratitude is beyond measure for the support of my family and friends. Though I am unable to give an exact time frame as to when I can repay, it will be something I strive to do as soon as I am able. Thank you so very much for reading and for your friendship. Love, Alicia
