Edit 9 - Friday 18th - 7.50am - Elsas surgery we believe has been a success so far! She has a long road ahead in terms of recovery, but we are one step closer to getting her home
Please, keep on donating if you’re in the position to do so

Edit 8 - Thursday 17th - 12.00pm - Elsa is being prepared for surgery, she will go down in the next 45 minutes. Please keep everything crossed…

Edit 7 - Thursday 16th - 9.30am -
Elsa has now been transferred to Wear Referrals Veterinary & Emergency hospital located in Bradbury, Stockton. They’ve put her back on pain relief through IV ready to start her initial assessment, focusing on her liver and gallbladder

She looks as though she may have gained a little bit of weight, as she doesn’t look as slim at the back end as she did! So that’s amazing news

Updates will follow throughout the day

Edit 6 - 7.20pm - Elsa will be stopping the anti sickness injection, and will have medication going through an IV on a slow drip for the foreseeable.
Tomorrow, she’s being referred to Wear Referrals Veterinary & Emergency hospital located in Bradbury, Stockton - where her treatment will continue..
Further updates will be posted tomorrow when she arrives

Edit 5 - Wednesday 15th, 5.00pm - Update on Elsa
Elsa hasn’t responded to the medications the vets have gave her throughout the night, and her liver still isn’t functioning exactly how they should be..
The vets are going through the process of vet oracle as they’re stuck on what to do, and in essence, don’t know what to do..

On a positive, Elsa has managed 12 hours without vomiting which is a massive improvement! She’s only been sick twice today This is a major improvement since her surgery Friday night!

Another ultrasound, bloods and hospital stay tonight, but we are heading in the right direction! One step closer to our baby coming home

Edit 4 - Wednesday 15th, 8.30am - UPDATE
Vets have just rang. Elsa is happy. She’s not been sick since 3am. They’re going to run another course of bloods today, to check her liver function again, then the next steps will be determined from there.. Please, keep on sharing and donating if you possibly can

Edit 3 - 10.00pm - OMG. We are absolutely overwhelmed with all of your donations, thank you so much
We still have a LOT of costs that are going to need covering..
We have just had an update from the vets. Although it’s not something they usually see, Elsas liver has now been affected. Good news, stomach is in good order, however now they’re working at sorting her liver and getting her liver function back to normal. She has still got a very long recovery ahead, and is still critical
We are still working day by day, thank you again from the bottom of our hearts!

Edit 2 - Another £1300 bill tonight.. Vets are wanting bloods, fluids via IV, antibiotics through IV, and ultrasound..
Vet is still very concerned about the vomiting despite the anti sickness injections..

Play pray for the best results

Edit - Tuesday 14th 4.10pm - Elsa has been readmitted to Bridge Veterinary Hospital, where she will be put on IV for treatment of malnutrition. Elsa has lost half of her body weight, now only weighing 26kg..

Hi, my name is Shola Buckle, sister of our beautiful retired police dog Elsa.
Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) is a serious condition and is fatal if left untreated. Commonly referred to as "bloat," GDV occurs when a dog's stomach fills with gas, food, or fluid and subsequently twists. GDV develops without warning and can progress quickly. It is always an emergency.
Friday night Elsa was taken to Bridge Veterinary Hospital where she was admitted, and later taken for emergency life saving surgery. The surgeons didn’t know if they were going to have to remove her spleen due to the severity of the damage made, however thankfully, this was saved. Elsa was brought out of theatre at 3.30am, where we were told the next 24-48 hours was critical.. During surgery, Elsas stomach was attached to the wall lining of her abdomen to prevent her stomach from turning again. Elsa was discharged on Sunday, with a bill totalling of £5277.56
Since Elsa returned home, she has still been in very critical condition, she has lost a lot of weight, she can’t eat and she’s vomiting constantly. Elsa is at risk of malnutrition and is on the borderline of being readmitted, which again is a heavy cost.
Everyday she’s back visiting the vets, which is of course more costs, but unfortunately funds have ran dry..
Please, if you can help, help us save our baby, who served our country
Thank you, from the Buckle family
