Help Elna Fight Breast Cancer

Along with her siblings a few of us who are close friends have started a Go Fund Me to support the Johnson's as Elna goes through treatment for breast cancer.

If you don't already know Elna we hope you get the chance to meet her. She is dynamic, talented, funny, driven, compassionate  and truly one of a kind. She is a mom to two amazing kids, a wife, daughter, sister, friend as well as a retired athlete (hurdler), intramuscular doctor and so much more.

We started this fundraiser because Elna's life's work is about taking care of others and now she needs a little help from us. Asking for help is not something that comes naturally to Elna. For decades she has trained her mind and body to overcome adversity on and off the track and while the skill has served her well we think she now needs her community.


As you may know, following months of debilitating pain Elna underwent emergency brain surgery at the start of the year followed by four months of physical recovery. During that time she was unable to practice, which was additionally challenging given the fact that the clinic was shutdown by the local health orders for months in 2020. She is also independently employed which means that she is ineligible for government assistance; adding insult to injury, she didn't qualify for private insurance due to the car accident that ended her track career.

Elna doesn't share her challenges with others, she simply overcomes them.

This time, we are hoping she doesn't have too, instead we are reaching out to the community with an ask, help us to help her. We are looking to raise enough for Elna to focus on eight months of recovery and hoping desperately that it will be less as well as cover any additional medical expenses along the way.

Rest assured that Elna has already made it clear that she intends to pay it forward with any funds that don't go to direct use by supporting others undergoing treatment who are not fortunate enough to have such a massive tribe.
