ELLISON FAMILY HOUSE FIRE RELIEF FUND
https://www.facebook.com/pg/jltphotography1/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2174266495974191 On Thursday, January 17th, the Ellison family -- long time members of the Wheaton Community -- lost literally everything in a devastating house fire.
Fortunately, all of the family members survived. Dawn Ellison was home at the time with her dog and cat, and managed to escape with the dog (sadly, Dawn's kitty did not survive).
The Ellisons are currently staying in a hotel, but they have nothing in terms of even the most basic necessities (my sister Andrea gave Dawn a winter coat just to get to the hotel in). It may be awhile before all the insurance issues are sorted out, but right now, short term financial support would go a long way toward easing the burden and stress Dawn and her husband are under.
The Ellisons have a long road ahead of them -- emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially. This is just one way you can help if you feel led, which takes the guesswork out of the equation: the family themselves will best know their own needs going forward, and may even find it difficult to convey what those are right now, so this is an efficient and foolproof way of providing immediate help. (We may change the amount later, as this story unfolds.)
Thank you, on behalf of the Ellison family. There is no community like Wheaton for rallying around its own.

We went to the house today and into the baby’s room. The house is very cold and dark. But in the dark, we found memories. My rocking chair that I rocked all my kids and grandkids in. Little twin outfits that were going to be birthday presents for the twins this March. Even the little dollhouse we had so much fun playing with.
But it is only Stuff and I can hear my Lord saying, “You face nothing alone. Nothing. When you feel anxious you are focusing on the physical world and not Me.”
Thanks for your prayers and support, everyone, and for your love.

I need to put up a prayer request: my husband Stan hurt his back putting Sammy into the the car the night of the fire. It has gotten so back that he went to Urgent Care yesterday and we will see a specialist some time this week.
I also want to update all of the Grandmas who have helped me collect books, games, clothes and so much more. My granddaughters came over for a swim and were so excited to see all Nana’s and Papa’s new stuff! Thank you for providing us with toys and books that we can make new memories with.
This is a screenshot from a video of my granddaughters jumping up and down on the couch with excitement when they saw all the “Grandparent Shower Gifts” for them! And one of Stan laying on the couch not feeling well.

Dear friends and family,
With tears in my eyes and a grateful heart I would like to thank you all again. You have shown me how awesome my Lord and my community are. If it takes me a year I am going to thank each and every one of you personally.
Now for an update: We are looking at a house in Wheaton a few blocks from our old house. Please pray it fits our needs. Sammy and I will be able to do our walks in our old neighborhood and get to see our new house being built. I will be so glad if we can stay with all our Wheaton community so please pray.
Today our family is seeing a family counselor. We think it's important when tragedy happens in a family to be with someone who can help us express ourselves with one another.
I'm including a couple of pictures of Sammy -- if you look closely, you can see he is laying on the floor playing with one of his new toys and in the second picture he has actually fallen asleep with the toy! He loves his new toys and new bed and all the things people have given him!
Thank you again for all your prayers and support. More updates will follow.

Hi all, just checking in. We are all doing well.
We need some prayer warriors. We haven't found a house to rent that allows dogs and has a fence. Please keep a look out for that.
Also need prayer for me: this morning I woke up with a horrible migraine. You know when you're sick and all you want is your own bed and those special items that seems to take pain away or at least help it. Please pray for healing.
We have truly met wonderful people, who have taken their valuable time, encouragement and love to help my family. 'Thankyou' just doesn't seem enough. Please know how grateful we all are.
