Ellen and Ryan's IVF

We are Ellen and Ryan Meyer and we are humbly asking for help with our journey to start a family. Ellen works for the non-profit organization the Ronald McDonald House and Ryan has been a middle school special education teacher for 8 years.

We got married in 2016 and when we started our journey to begin our family in 2019 we never imagined our path to parenthood would be met with so many challenges and emotional highs and lows. After several years of failed attempts and no inclination from doctors as to what was wrong, we decided to look into other options. When natural solutions didn’t work, we decided it was time to take a more aggressive route. In 2022 we attempted four rounds of IUI. While the first one led to a positive pregnancy test, the good news didn’t last for long. After three more unsuccessful attempts at IUI, Ellen began to suffer severe pain and strange symptoms and it was finally suggested that she may have endometriosis. In 2023, Ellen had surgery to remove stage 2 endometriosis that was found in 6 different places throughout the pelvis. After her surgery we felt more hopeful that pregnancy could be possible. We returned to the clinic for a fifth round of IUI and doctors discovered a uterine polyp. Time for another surgery. A 6th round of IUI was attempted again without success. We were then informed that IVF would realistically be our best option due to all of the medical complexities.

Despite all of our challenges and setbacks, we remain hopeful and positive. As many of you know, we are private people and it can be hard to ask for help.
