Ella's Medical Fund

Hello, my name is Ella Barnes. I am a student at MnSU, a barista at the Coffee Hag, and an artist.  My hopes for my future are to get my BS in Ecology and become a wildlife biologist, as I have always had a deep love of nature and preserving the environment.
This all started with a lump found on my thyroid during a  physical, which led to an ultrasound and biopsy. I hoped the results would be benign, but on October 27th I was called into the clinic and diagnosed with papillary carcinoma of the thyroid. Since being diagnosed with thyroid cancer I have met with multiple doctors and am currently receiving care from Rochester Mayo.
A second ultrasound done on November 14th, just four days ago from writing this, came back with abnormal and suspicious lymph nodes. This means that the cancer may have already spread. My surgery is planned for December 13th for a full thyroidectomy and removal of some lymph nodes. I will have to be on a thyroid replacement medication for the rest of my life. Still, my prognosis is good and I should recover well.
The money will be used for the time I have to take off work to recover from the surgery and reach a proper dosage of the thyroid supplement medication, which may take a couple months to achieve. The money will also cover gas to and from Rochester as well as possible medical bills and supplies needed for my recovery.
