Hi friends and family,
I hope you are all doing well. Recently, I have started to become more involved with a foundation called Komera. Komera is an organization created to help girls in Rwanda get a proper education through secondary school. 39% of girls living in Africa are married before or by the age of 18. Komera provides an opportunity for girls to get an education rather than get married. One factor of Komera is that you get a chance to sponsor girls to help them get the education they need.
To sponsor one girl for a year costs $500 dollars. My goal is to raise at least $1,000 to sponsor two or more girls' educations for a year. I will be running ten miles on May 12th to raise this money for Komera.
I had the opportunity to FaceTime a student in Rwanda named Alexis. She loves school and it was very interesting talking to her. Speaking with her made me realize how we can help and make a difference. Below is a link to the Komera website if you'd like to learn more about this organization.
