Hello Everyone,
Friends, some of you know Elja Bagaco was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) a year ago, a devastating progressive neuromuscular disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries. ALS is characterized by a degeneration of motor cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness and, as the disease progresses, severe impairment of mobility, speech, swallowing, and respiratory function. As a result of this diagnosis, Elja was at Mass General Hospital and Rehab for 3 months.
Upon return home, Elja now has a TRACHEOSTOMY and requires 100% ventilation on the VENTILATOR, but is in good spirits. This requires 24 hour nursing care, 7 days a week. Her medical expenses are exhuberant and not all is covered. Lets show community support and help Elja live comfortably with this devastating disease.
