Elise From Marilynn's Place Got Robbed
On Saturday, Aug. 29, Elise LaBarre—a working mom who is known to many Shreveporters as the beloved manager of Marilynn’s Place—was robbed. Multiple houses on her street were robbed during the power blackout caused by Hurricane Laura. Thankfully, Elise and her son were not home at the time, but the crooks took a lot...even her son's backpack.
"They stole every cent I have ever saved over the last decade and stuffed it into my son's backpack with a few other things and took off," Elise wrote on Facebook. "They even found my checkbooks."
These are incredibly difficult times for those in the restaurant industry, which has been hit hard by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Elise is one of the hardest-working restaurant managers in Shreveport (if you don't believe me, just pop into Marilynn's Place during any Sunday brunch). She has given so many of us great memories through her work. Please give what you can to help this remarkable young woman get back on her feet.
This GoFundMe was set up with Elise's permission and all money raised goes directly to her.
Thank you,
Chris Jay
