Baby Eli's Recovery

Earlier this month, our friend and colleague Mike Martins and his family received some bad news. Doctors had discovered a large tumor in his 11 month old son Eli's abdomen. This discovery and additional testing led to a diagnosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

Eli and the Martins family have embarked on an intensive treatment program that initially includes many cycles of chemotherapy followed by surgery. Although the Martins family is receiving outstanding medical care, the foreseeable future will be full of hospital visits, treatments, and unpredictable costs. While Mike's family is strong and stands ready to adapt to the challenges as they appear, no one should ever fight this alone. We share the Martins' family hope that Eli will be cancer-free in 9 months.
