In Memorial of Elfreda Macey

Donation protected

Elfreda Ruperta Macey was born on January 12, 1930, to Henry and Vinoria Morgan Rapley in Summerset, St Andrews Jamaica.  She was the eldest child of her mother, her father had a son (Linford Rapley) from a previous union.  Affectionately called Pearlie by her siblings, she was one of 18 children born to this union.  When Elfreda was still a baby, the family moved to Hagly Gap, St. Thomas.

Elfreda attended Minto School in the Minto District of St. Thomas Jamacia until the 6th grade;  she was thirteen years old at that time.  She had to leave school because her mother was sick and Elfreda being the oldest female child, had to care for her younger siblings.

Elfreda loved the Lord and reared all of her children in the church.  She was a mother in the church, a position she was very proud to hold.  As is her custom, she became a mother to others as well.  Her endearing personality, her quick laughter, and smiling eyes were what drew people to her.  Because of this, she had so many sons, daughters, and grandchildren though not her own, she claimed them all!

Her health began to decline and become complicated and difficult to manage.  She became oxygen dependent and could not walk long distances.  Taking the stairs became very difficult and nearly impossible.  Because of her health declining our family decided to move to a single story home.

Our church, Abundant Living Ministries, was a wonderful place for her.  She actually lived and looked forward to the weekly Wednesday and Sunday services. Her church was the place where she felt at home and loved to worship God.   She took the goal challenge of contributing to our church building fund.  My mom made pillows to sell and she donated her monies from those sales to the church.

In memorial of my mother, we want to finish the challenge that she originally initiated because of her love for God and the church.   Please join me in fulfilling and completing my mom's last pledge before she went home to be with the Lord.

Let's carry on her legacy!
