Eleanor's Funeral Costs & Evelyn’s Hospital Bills

Donation protected
Eleanor and Evelyn came into this world earlier than anticipated on 11/23/20 with Ellie coming in first at 10:54pm and her sister Evie at 10:56pm. They only shared their time on this earth together for a short period when due to heart failure, Eleanor left the world 20 minutes after delivery. She was the unfortunate product of twin to twin transfusion (TTT), which only happens in pregnancies where multiples share a placenta. The placenta had veins and arteries that crossed from each baby, which could result in complications like one twin receiving more blood than the other. In this case, Ellie was the receiver and Evie became the donor. Ellie took too much blood than her little heart and body could handle causing her to swell in her abdomen and not allowing enough room for her lungs to expand fully. Ellie was worked on fervently by the staff at Riverside and, without a doubt, received some of the best care imaginable. I have no doubt that they did everything they could to keep her here.

Eleanor was supposed to come home with us. We were supposed to have two babies that we were to juggle around with Emma and Oliver and finding how they fit into our crazy family. Even though the news of twins was so unexpected, we adjusted and found excitement for the two girls. Now we have to reimagine the life we created in our minds of having 4 kids at home to only 3.

To keep her memory alive, Shad and I decided it would be best to have a funeral and burial spot for Eleanor. Her sister can visit her and talk to her if she feels she wants to. This will also allow Emma and Oliver, who are too young to understand, have actual evidence they had another sister they never saw grow up. I want them to know our family as best as I can without question and without gaps.

The situation we face is slightly difficult. I have decided not to go back to work after the twins were born (this was already decided), and commit to the family and my schooling in becoming a nurse practitioner. I am halfway through my program and so sadly, our situation does not allow for much room on these unexpected events. We have had people ask what they can do for us and this is one of them, but the one thing us Greens need is prayer for her sister and keeping her healthy, prayer for an adjustment that will not break us, and pray that we get to come home as a full family in the next few months.

Thank you to everyone who donates, or prays, as I see this as an equal at this time. We are loving the support and encouragement received from everyone we know and do not and cannot be any more grateful for every kind word.

With love,

Ashley and Shad Green, along with the Green Beans: Emma, Oliver, Eleanor, and Evelyn
