Eladio Rodriguez Cristobal, 62, was born in Camaguey, Cuba on January 21, 1955. Eladio obtained a bachelor’s degree in his native country and was an Electrical Engineer. In 2014 he migrated from the oppressive Cuban regime pursuing the American Dream.  The Courtyard by Marriott Miami Coral Gables opened its doors and hired Eladio as guest service agent in October 2014 where he has been driving the hotel shuttle ever since.  On November 18th, 2017, Eladio died tragically while trying to protect hotel guests from an assailant. Eladio’s heroic actions successfully saved the guests, and he will always be remembered  for his selflessness.

Eladio was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, dedicated loyal associate and a humble friend.  Eladio will be remembered for his tenacious personality in serving others.  We will always cherish the memory of his enthusiasm, bright smile and incredible work ethic. He lived a well-planned and disciplined life. Eladio will be missed, not only by his immediate family, but also his Courtyard by Marriott Coral Gables family, where Eladio played a huge part, always bringing a smile to their faces.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Carmen Garcia Rodriguez, his son Alfredo Rodriguez and two siblings from a previous marriage residing in Texas and Kentucky. The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement.  May God Bless and Keep You!
