El Paso Massacre First Responders Motorcycle Ride

Donation protected
I am starting this page on behalf of my brother-in-law, Michael Gomez. I am trying to help him raise some funds for this bike ride and any dollar raised will be given directly to him for any costs that arise during the trip. Any amount helps. Thank you so much in advance!

HERE IS MICHAEL’S STORY IN HIS OWN WORDS:

“The mass shooting in El Paso this weekend rekindled an old flame I thought was put out with time. Of course, I was proven wrong.

Because the focus is going to be so heavily placed on the shooter and his motives, my brothers and sister first responders are going to be quickly forgotten. The counseling may be there but some of them sadly won’t reach out for help. They’ll assume they have it under control.

The unfortunate truth is that they don’t. I’ve been down that road and it is a dark one.

It took me crossing a line that could have had very dire repercussions to finally admit that I needed help. I began counseling and the long, slow road to recovery.

I’m going to ride a motorcycle on a 1950 mile journey in a big circle around Texas transporting with me two Texas flags to be signed by everyday citizens of our great state as a show of support. They will need it now more than ever as they are going to find themselves feeling alone and unable to find anyone to relate to.

When I arrive in El Paso, I will be presenting the flags to the first responders of El Paso County. While there, the plan is to have an informal debriefing where they are surrounded by their fellow first responders from all agencies.

This is where the tough part of the trip begins…

I plan on being the first to speak so as to break the ice and get them to a place where they feel like they can begin to let go and let God. This is where each of us has to walk back through hell in order to confront the demons now growing inside.

My trip is to begin in Corpus Christi and will continue on to San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Lubbock, Odessa and eventually, El Paso.

The plan is to travel during the early part of the day and have the early afternoon to meet and greet with fellow first responders and civilians at each location.  I’ll be staying overnight in each city and then moving on to the next stop until I reach El Paso.

As of right now, I am covering all the costs that I can afford to cover for the trip. A rough estimate of what I can tell that the cost will be puts it at about 3000.00 for the entire trip.

I’d love it if I could get a little help & support along the way.

God bless,

Michael Gomez”
