How do we trust each other in the face of fear?
In what way do I embody my past?
Can my body tell you a story?
In 2019, we sought to answer these questions and others through a series of movement-based workshops, El Movimiento. This series was open to all and held in collaboration with artists living in and visiting Oaxaca, Mexico. The people, moments, movements, and spaces that made this project possible were documented with a lot of eyes, ears and hands and turned into a book .
In 2020, we will continue with a new set of questions, inspired by the local, social, political context and the people participating in each workshop. The aim is directed towards corporeal and political agency for the present moment. I am asking for your help to document this experiment with film.
This year, three different workshops in three different parts of Oaxaca will be documented with film. Each workshop will ask political and social questions via movement and art-based exercises. The films will look at the stories of each workshop, the facilitators and the places in which workshops are held.
My goal is to raise enough money to pay for facilitators, space, filmmakers, my time, materials and keep the cost low for participation. The breakdown of the budget can be found here .

En 2019, buscamos respuestas a estas preguntas y otras a través de una serie de talleres de movimiento, El Movimiento. Esta serie estuvo abierta a todos y se llevaron a cabo en colaboración con artistas viviendo y visitando Oaxaca, México. La gente, los momentos, los movimientos y los espacios que realizaron este proyecto fueron documentados con muchos ojos, orejas y manos y convertidos en un libro .
En 2020, continuaremos con una colección nueva de preguntas, inspiradas por el contexto local, social y político y la gente participando en cada taller. La intención está dirigida hacia la libertad corporal y política para este momento. Les estoy pidiendo su apoyo para documentar este experimento con video.
Este año, tres talleres distintos en tres partes diferentes de Oaxaca serán documentados con video. Cada taller hará preguntas políticas y sociales por ejercicios de movimiento y arte. Los videos mostrarán las historias de cada taller, sus talleristas y los lugares en donde toman lugar los talleres.
La meta es recaudar estos fondos para pagar a los/las talleristas, el espacio, las/los directores, administración, los materiales, y mantener el costo económico para los participantes. El desglose del presupuesto se puede encontrar aquí .
