In 1998, our parents, Lila and Ricardo Gutierrez, opened El Barco Mariscos in Chicago. We pride ourselves in bringing Acapulco style seafood and Mexican cocktails to your table. Over the last 22 years, we couldn't have done it without our dedicated and loyal staff. They have truly become a part of our family. We are not a huge corporation and we cannot just send out an email blast telling them tomorrow is their last day. They are not just an employee number to us - we know their names, their families, their struggles, and we know that this is the worst thing that has ever happened to them. This situation has taken us all by surprise and there is nothing anyone could have done to prepare for our current reality. We will bounce back from this and we can't wait to serve you again. Karen, we will never again complain that you ask for the manager every single time you come in. We actually miss you!
