Hello Friends and Family,

One of my dearest friends, Chelsea Ekquist, was in a severe car accident on October 18, 2017. I have posted her last Facebook Update below including the extent of her injuries. At this point, Chelsea, Lola and unborn Baby Jameson are all doing okay. However, let's do whatever we can to help this wonderful family during this stressful time.

Facebook Post by Chelsea "Tonight at 8 pm on 127 I was the victim of a drunk driver who lost control, hit the front drivers side and flipped my SUV. I'm in a lot of pain but the baby is OK as of now. I have a big black eye, a fractured pelvis, a broken rib, a fractured vertebrae low in my spine and a small laceration in both my kidney and my spline. Ive been admitted to the hospital and will be under close watch until further notice.

I was on 127 and a drunk driver was on the completely other side of the road he started to go off of the road tried to correct his issue and that shot him directly at my car. The paramedics said they thought he was going around 70 miles an hour when he made contact. He spun and flipped my car and thankfully Lola is OK as well. She was the only other individual in the vehicle. As of right now I've been transferred to u of m and our main concern is keeping me from going into labor.
The worst part is after he flipped my car he fled the scene on foot. Officers showed up immediately and sent dogs to get him and he is now in custody in Jackson from what I understand. I had lots of people stop and it was very helpful because they were able to pull us out of the car because I was unable to use my left leg. I crawled out of my seat to Lola and took her from her carseat and handed her out of the car to a Marine and a two female teachers who stopped to help. From there My husband arrived on scene and collectively they pulled me out of the car that was on its side. I was immediately put on a stretcher and taken to Jackson Hospital. Please keep my family in your prayers and I ask for patience as we work cautiously though my injuries. If I do go into labor I will have to have a c-section because my pelvis is now to unstable to support labor. My son is on 28 weeks along and will need to be kept in the nicu to keep him alive. We pray this does not happen but we have put this in Gods hands and will keep everyone posted."
