Ek Neou - Freedom Business - Athens, Greece

Ek Neou is a non-profit Freedom Business in Athens, Greece.  We support women who have escaped situations of abuse and are seeking to rebuild their lives, by creating work placements and providing job training as well as emotional and practical help.

Project#1 is a secondhand bookshop in central Athens, appealling to locals and foreigners alike.  Selling books, and handmade products.  The shop will be run by volunteers, and will legally employ survivors of exploitation in support roles, who will receive on the job training in a safe environment. Proceeds from sales of gift items will be directed to anti-trafficking projects or individuals who are recovering from abuse.

The shop space we are renting needs to become a bookshop!

We need:
€300 for a till
€500 for a laptop
€3500 for shelving for the books
€500 to fit out the mezzanine as a meeting/training space
€300 for lighting
€100 for a dehumidifier to protect the books

Our financial needs to fit out the shop are approximately €5200 before VAT/ΦΠΑ - which is at least £5000. So we're aiming to raise £5000!

Would you be willing to give this project £1 per week for a calendar year? If 100 people gave £1 a week, we'd easily reach our goal! Give it to us in one bulk gift and we'll be able to get the shop open sooner! 

Looking at it another way, we're looking for FIFTY people to give £10, FIFTY people to give £50 and TWENTY people to give £100.
