Since November 2011, our colleague, family member and friend, Elliot Santiago, was unexpectedly diagnosed with the following stage 4 Cancer (metastatic melanoma with multiple brain metastases). Elliot began his treatment in January 2012 and on Friday, August 17, 2012, Elliot was taken away from us. While our hearts are bleeding and eyes are crying, our memories of Elliot are hardening. Those are the memories of the beautiful person who has left a piece of himself in each of us. Elliot my friend, we do not say goodbye, we say 'Thank You'. Thank you for being such a big part of our lives. Thank you for your never ending laughter, your most positive attitude and for your warmth and kindness. Thank you for teaching us that no matter what happens in life, one can never give up. Please know that you are and always will be in our hearts and that your smile will be our guiding light forever. Elliot, we all thank you for your friendship.
Elliot was a dedicated Officer with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security since its inception. He began his career as a Transportation Security Officer with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration at LaGuardia Airport of New York and then continued his career serving as an Immigration Enforcement Agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the New York Field Office.
Unfortunately, due to the extensive medical treatments, the medical costs are increasing the burden and demands on Elliot and his family during this difficult time. We, his friends and family have created this fund raiser to help alleviate the significant cost associated with this terrible illness.
Donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, and please keep Elliot and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. God bless!
