Hello, I’m Jude. I’m a twenty-three year old trans individual from a small town in Wisconsin. And I’m asking for funds to aid in my transition.
This money will be going towards top surgery and the necessary expenses along the way.
I came out as trans when I was fourteen, and although I have been living as male for eight years, I’m still pre-op and only recently started hormones, again. I had gotten my HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) referral letter around June of 2015. Unfortunately, after a lengthy process of setting up an appointment with an endocrinologist, I had discovered it was a sham. I lost a lot of money during it all, leaving me to feel as though my efforts were all for nothing. But I didn’t give up.
In 2016, I ended up finding a clinic that worked with me, and was able to actually start hormones. Though that only lasted about 7 months, because I had some complications with my doctor.
After that, I was left feeling very discouraged. My fears, as well as both emotional and financial support, kept me from moving forward. Until recently, I found an amazing doctor, and have been on hormones for about four months now.
Currently, my dysphoria affects me mentally and physically. I’ve been binding since I first came out. If you don’t know, a binder is a tank top like, item that is made to compress/flatten your chest. Though, using this method is safer than other methods, it’s still left me with some wear and tear on my chest, ribs and back.
I’ve decided that after this long and lengthy journey, I need to push forward and reach my goals.
Having top surgery would definitely help lift the weight of my mental illnesses off my shoulders. And it would be incredibly helpful in learning to be happy with the cards I’ve been dealt.
I just moved to a new town and have a new job. I don’t make a lot, and all extra money I earn is being saved up for this surgery. It will take years for me to have enough saved on my own.
I have found the cheapest option for surgery in Texas, but that that means travel as well. All money raised will not only serve to fund my surgery, but to also help fund my travel and help me financially while I recover for 4-6 weeks without work.
I’m not asking for huge donations, as I know not everyone can donate. I appreciate any amount, even if it be $1. Every dollar, or share, is crucial in me beginning my journey.
And if you cannot donate, I would appreciate if you could spread the word!
