Mommas Medical Bills and Care

Many of you know our Nashville Karaoke Community Good Will Ambassador, Jean "Momma" Burch. She has been a staple in the Nashville Gay Community over the past 16 years. From a simple warm "Hi Honey!" greeting to a Big Ol' Hug, Momma has been there for many of us who have either lost our parents and to those of us who may have a strained relationship with them. She has represented that "Unconditional Love" that so many of us seek. She has helped raise Thousands of dollars for the Smokey Mountain Rodeo Association and their charity partners. Not a night goes by that I'm not asked by at least a dozen people how Momma is and where is she. As many of you have noticed, Momma hasn't been out on a Karaoke Night in quite awhile. Momma's Daughter Cindy and I have noticed quite a change in Momma over the past year or so, and after a recent Dr.'s visit, I'm sorry to say she has been diagnosed with Alzheimers. Momma is starting to struggle with basic things and functions so much so that she may need to be placed in a nursing facility in the not so distant future. There is an overwhelming financial burdon associated with this as I'm sure you're aware of. We're looking into other options as well, but all will require finances that just aren't available. There is a strong possibility that they could even lose their house. Momma and Cindy are my Nashville Family. I will do anything and everything in my power to help them. Cindy is overwhelmed with the prospect of the financial toll Momma's care will amount to. I hope we can come together as a community and show her how much Momma's "Nashville Family", as well as so many others, love her. Momma isn't even aware that she has Alzheimers. If we told her, she'd get extremely upset and then forget about it within a few hours. Plans are in the works for a Karaoke Fundraiser as well which will be advertised as soon as we decide on a date. Please give what you can and give with what Momma has been giving us for all of these years, with your Heart :)
