The Boston Family

My name is Brian Donnelly and on behalf of the Boston family, I’d like to update you on Trent’s diagnosis and humbly ask for your help.

In early January 2024, Trent started noticing some tingling and dull pain in his right arm. He went to his doctor and initially they thought it was a pinched nerve. They gave him some steroids and told him to wait 2 weeks. After two weeks, he was referred to physical therapy, but as time went on his symptoms did not improve. Trent got a nerve test done at the beginning of February and proceeded with physical therapy. The nerve test came back fine, and the physical therapist told him that what he was experiencing is very common when nerves are pinched. At the end of February, Tren’t symptoms became more visible. His right arm and neck began twitching uncontrollably. Trent followed up with his doctor and pushed for an MRI of his brain. The MRI was scheduled for two weeks out, on March 15th.

On Friday, March 15th, Trent went in for an MRI at 8:30 am. At 2:30pm he got a phone call from his doctor telling him to go straight to the ER. In the next 48 hours, he was told that he had 2 cancerous tumors and that they are located in areas of his brain where surgery would not be an option. The doctor’s were able to do a biopsy on a certain area of the tumor that following Tuesday, and by the end of the week confirmed he had Glioblastoma, Grade 4.

Since then, Trent has been seeking care at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. A team of neurosurgeons reviewed his case and all agreed that surgery is off the table at this point. The initial treatment plan is 6 weeks of radiation along with chemotherapy. After the 6 weeks, there will be a 4 week rest period where his team will review how the tumors have responded to treatment and come up with a plan for future treatment.

Trent is determined to fight this fight. As of now, he’s still working as he progresses through treatment. The hope is he will be able to continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The reality is, we don’t know how long that will be an option.

Trent has been married to Holly for almost 17 years. Holly teaches 3rd grade at Immaculate Conception Dardenne Catholic School in Dardenne Prairie, MO. They have 2 children, Bella, who is in 8th grade at ICD and Jack, who is in 6th grade at Frontier Middle School in the Wentzville School District.

As Trent and his family embark on this journey, it is my hope that we can raise funds for them so they can focus on the fight and not be worried about the financial burdens that may come with it.

Should the Boston family not end up needing these funds, they plan to donate any funds raised to Brain Cancer Research and to other families who are experiencing the pain and challenges associated with an unexpected Brain Cancer diagnosis.

Thank You!
