Edward M. Owens Homegoing

FATHER, GRANDFATHER
SON, BROTHER
COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR
MAN OF GOD & BROTHER'S KEEPER
These titles are merely a glimpse into the unfaltering soul of Edward Montgomery Owens.
Through his fierce determination, gratifying mentoring, endearing focus and vehement spirit; Ed was able to influence countless lives.
In the spring of 2017 Ed was diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis (immunoglobulin light chain Amyloidosis), which is a bone marrow disorder. Amyloidosis occurs when your bone marrow produces abnormal proteins and antibodies that are misshapen and cannot be broken down or passed through the body freely. These proteins were affecting our father's gastrointestinal tract and possibly other organs. The disorder is chronic and there is no cure, only treatments. Treatments include bone marrow transplants with stem cell rescues as well as Chemo therapy treatments, which our dad had been receiving since last year. He did not have cancer.
Last week, Ed was not feeling well and was experiencing discomfort. The last person to speak with him was Wednesday, September 19th. His daughter unfortunately did not get inside his home until Saturday afternoon, September 22nd, where she found him unresponsive, yet peaceful. Our comfort is in knowing that God and his ancestors were with him as he transitioned.
We have created this Gofundme in order to raise the funds needed for Eddie's homegoing. The family is asking for the community to help support half of the total costs.
The donations will help support the following:

You all have shown us how a community can influence so much! We appreciate every one of you (ALL THE MORE) for the effort and respect you have shown our father.
From the absolute bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Much love and may God bless you all.
