Tuyoor Al Amal schools
According to the UNHCR, there are 400,000 Syrian refugee children between the ages of 5-17 registered in Lebanon, and the majority of them are not receiving any mental health care or education.
(Birds of Hope) schools were founded in 2013 by Mustafa Al-Haj, a Syrian refugee himself. The schools are located in Jabbal Al-Badawi, Tripoli, Lebanon. The Schools provide vital education and mental health care support to over 2000 Syrian refugee children, most of who are below the age of 10. The ongoing coronavirus has made the situation of Syrian refugees worse than before because many Syrian refugees have lost their jobs. This has made it even harder than before to fund the education of their children. To support their families, an increasing number of Syrian refugee children have started to sell biscuits and other food items on the streets to help their parents. This exposes the children to all sorts of dangers, including the coronavirus.
Mustafa Al-Haj seeks your support to keep the schools open and take Syrian refugee children off the streets and into school. The schools' closure will mean that the children will have no education and no mental health care. This will have long term consequences for the children and Syrian refugees.
Cost of running all three schools for one academic year:
1) Running cost, inlcuding building rent: $555,140
2) School Directors: (3) $ 4,264
3) Supervisors: (8) $ 4,000
4) Teachers: (78) $ 3,200
5) Janitors: (9) $2,000
Funds will be used to:
1) Contribute to the running costs of the school.
2) Contribute to the health care for the students and their families (Lebanon has been severely affected by Covid 19).
3) Contribute to the Eid al Fitr party for the students.
