Education for children in deprived areas

Hi,

 

My name is Zeynep. I'm a Maths teacher and passionate about teaching. I believe every child has a right for good education. At my current School, I was awarded twice by the students with "Always being there for Pupils" award.

 

In 2020, I was shortlisted as the Maths teacher of the year in the country by TES.

 

This year, I was given "The Jack Petchey Leader Award" for the charity work I do for SEN children.

 

The Charity will receive £1000 as a result, and it will go to one of our projects which will benefit the local Community (Greenwich) and the children who are mostly with SEN.

 

I'm going to Turkey during Summer and intend to go some deprived villages and teach voluntarily for a week doing activities such as Maths, English, creative writing in Turkish, art and theatre. I'll be staying for free and will pay all my expenses for the journey. The village elder offered to accommodate me, which I am really grateful for.

 

I'm asking for money to buy the necessary equipment for the Summer School, maybe children’s lunch duration of the course and buy clothing for children who come from low-income families.

 

I'll keep the receipts for every penny I spent to make sure that it all goes to children.
