Educating Allie Oliveri

THIS GIRL. This girl right here has been accepted to Eton Academy in Birmingham! For those of you who are wondering what this means, it means that Allie has been accepted to a private school that is an independent coeducational day school for students with learning challenges.

As you all know, Allie is severely dyslexic. She is in the 4th grade reading at a 1st grade level. She also has a math learning disability. This means because of her dyslexia, numbers, computation and figures are very difficult for her. Despite years of intervention, her current school district is unable to meet the unique learning needs of this bright, determined, lovely little girl. Allie wants so badly to read. And she CAN read with the right type of education!

Many of you are familiar with her mother Teri's blog, Educating Allie. Teri has often used this blog as a springboard to bring awareness to dyslexia and as a platform to voice her concerns with the traditional methods that school districts insist upon using even with the most individualized educational plans. Teri and Jason have both poured every resource into their child, and yet, Allie still is not making progress. Allie's needs are unique and she will never thrive unless she is taught the way that her brain learns.

Eton Academy is a blessing for these types of children. This is the answer that many parents look for. A small class size with dedicated teachers with learning disabilities expertise as well as an accepting environment will enable Allie to a successful learner and she will be given the gift to read. But this tremendous blessing comes at a great cost.

Tuition is extremely costly even with grants. There is no way that Teri and Jason can get Allie to Eton without the help from family and friends. Every contribution counts.  If this gofundme is fully funded it will pay for Allie's education for the remainer of this year and next year.  Any money collected over this amount will be held in an educational trust  for further education for Allie.  You will be giving the gift of education to a little girl who's biggest dream is to read.
