Since the news of Mary Harper's diagnosis Wednesday, the response and outpouring of love and generosity has been tremendous. This campaign has been created as a way to support the Edsall family during this difficult season.
The following is the most recent update on Mary Harper's condition from the Edsall Family:
"Wednesday morning Dave and I noticed a large lump on the left side of MH stomach. We took her to the doctor to have them examine it. We thought it was a blockage or a hernia. She had an ultrasound and CT scan done that revealed a large tumor around her left kidney and several smaller ones in her lungs. We heard the news no parent wants to hear. "Your child has stage 4 cancer. A very rare kidney cancer. I am so sorry."
We have spent the last 24 hours having tests and labs completed at UNC hospital. We are heading home for one last "normal" weekend. We will return first thing Monday morning where MH will undergo an extensive surgery to remove the large tumor and left kidney. She will begin chemotherapy in the week following surgery. She will spend about a week in the hospital recovering. We will update on her recovery when we can. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers."
Funds raised from this campaign will go directly towards the family's medical costs. Moving forward, as their needs grow and change, so will our financial goal. The Edsall family thanks you for your continued support.
