Ed's Alternative Cancer Treatment

My two daughters want their grandfather to see them graduate from high school, get married and have children. They are 12 and sixteen. Not yet ready to say good bye to him. This summer he was diagnosed with cancer. It started out with a cough my father in law just thought was caused by his COPD that he's had for over a year. This winter the cough was persistent and his wife Carol was concerned that he might have gotten pneumonia . She kept insisting he see the doctor about it and finally on May 3rd he did. They did an X-ray and were concerned so they sent him for a Pet scan to be sure. The scan revealead he had a mass in the right lower lobe of his lungs and other areas of his lungs were lighting up as well indicating the possibility of cancer. Next steps involved doing a biopsy to determine if it was cancer. They tested the fluid around his lungs first because it was the least invasive. The results where negative for cancer but we weren't out of the woods yet because it could be a false positive. They had to go back and biopsy the mass. By the end of June he was diagnosed as having small cell squamous carcinoma but they weren't sure if he was stage 3 or 4.  At this time my niece who works in the medical field suggested he go to Boston for a second opinion. They ran all the tests again and were able to diagnose him as Stage 4 cancer. On August 24th he started his first round of chemotherapy which would be spread over the next six weeks. To say the least he hated how he felt after each treatment. His outlook was not as optimistic as we all wanted him to be. In the meantime we all did research on treatment options and pain relief for him. In the process we found an alternative treatment that Ed and Carol were interested in trying next if the chemo didn't have promising results. Ed was excited and even the girls noticed how much better Pop Pop seemed at Sunday dinner. There's a cannabas treatment that has had amazing results for stoping the progress of Ed's type of cancer and then maintaining it from spreading further. He'll need to do the treatment for 60 days at a cost of $90 a day. The treatment is not covered by insurance. Since his diagnosis Ed has had to quit his part time job and fully retire. Carol has little time to do house cleaning jobs now that she is caring for Ed and taking him to appointments.  Anyone who knows Carol and Ed knows they would help anyone in need. All their lives their home has been open to friends and family. Our family says you can't go hungry at Carol's house. Ed and Carol's four children, their spouses, 6 grand kids, and 3 great grand kids have all been helping them make ends meet and cover vitamin and prescription expenses. But now they need your help to cover the cost of this alternative treatment. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
