Brett, Rachel and big sister Phynley welcomed a new addition to their family, a sweet baby boy, Edison Foster Gardner, on November 21st at 11:11 a.m. Rachel was ecstatic that she went to full term with this pregnancy as she had Phynley 6 weeks early due to abruption. The birth with Edison went great and as plannned.
Edison was at first in the special care nursery at Methodist Hospital for low blood sugar levels and then had to be transferred to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis a few days later for low oxygen levels, where he still remains.
While at Children's Hospital, Edison has gone through extensive testing in attempt to determine the cause of the low oxygen levels. Including a spinal tap, an EEG, Echocardiogram, blood cultures, a MRI of the brain and so on. So far all of the testing has come back normal, which is great, but Edison continues to have episodes of low oxygen levels and was diagnosed with apnea. When they eventually are able to take him home, he will have to be on a monitior.
This has been a very stressful time for the entire family, full of tears and fear of the unknown and especially for Rachel as she is staying at the hospital in Edison's room and not able to be home with her family and their little girl Phynley, who misses her dearly.
We are asking for donations to ease the burden of the medical expenses. Please give what you can, every little bit helps.
