Edgecombe County Animal Shelter
Donation protected
Edgecombe County is located in eastern NC. The current animal shelter was built around 20 years ago. It has 16 available spots for dogs and 11 for cats. This shelter takes in over 1000 animals a year! The current shelter lacks many things, including central air, a play area and an area to quarantine sick animals.
In addition to the need for the normal intake of stray and owner-surrendered animals, the shelter has no resources for people’s pets in the case of a disaster. When disaster shelters here are open for people, they are not allowed to take their pets. The county shelter also has to take in animals from the town of Tarboro as their shelter has flooded twice (the animals had already been moved). The money raised will be presented directly to the Sheriff’s office for the building fund.
