Thank you for taking the time to read my plea for help. Today I am raising money to help pay down some pretty serious medical/hospital bills. My name is Edgar Lopez and I suffer from severe hemophilia. Hemophilia is the bodies lack or inability to clot even after a minor injury which can lead to severe blood loss and even death. In addition to hemophilia, I suffered from Compartment Syndrome which is also a painful and dangerous condition which is caused by pressure build-up from internal bleeding or swelling.
All of my short life (20 years) I have spent an incredible amount of time in and out of hospitals, often for what you would consider a minor injury would turn out to be a severe and life-threatening injury for myself. Something as simple as a swollen ankle or even a bruise would require major treatment. I am required to undergo several treatments that allow me to require less time in the hospital but they also leave me limited to what I can do. As it was very hard for me to complete school it is also very difficult for me to maintain any gainful employment. I recently had to leave my job at McDonald's due to weekly treatments for severe ankle and elbow pain.
In 2012 and 2016 I had extended stays in the hospital to treat 2 severe injuries, one caused by a motorcycle accident and the other being an injury to my left thigh that took 6 months plus an additional month in intensive care to heal.
It is not the obstacle that defines the man but the way that he deals with the obstacle.
I am a young man trying to get a good start in life, I have been held down and limited to what I can achieve and never have reached my full potential. I will not allow my conditions to dictate how I live my life. I am about to be blessed with the birth of my first born child within the next month. In order for me to give her an incredible start in life, I need help clearing up my debts. Please, if you can make a donation of any size, no matter how small or large it will go a great way to helping a new family out.
