Help A USMC Vet go to Fashion Week

Coming from a low income working class family, I never thought a career in the arts was possible.  I studied science in college, then realized that was not my passion.  Having no other options, I joined the United States Marine Corps.  I wanted to travel the world, discover myself and, of course, pay the bills.

During my 6 years in the Corps, I served in Japan, Korea and even the Iraq war during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  When I decided to resign my commision, I did so in order to follow my dreams.  I still didn't know what this was until I started a small clothing company making men's tank tops and swim shorts.

Without any training or education in fashion, growth was slow going, but the brand, Cute Tank, became very popular.  We took out a loan, maxed out a credit card and made a go of it.  It was clear it was only going to move forward incrementally without more education.  Fortunatley, because of my service I had the GI Bill and the amazing Veterans Association footed the bill for my MFA degree in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University.

I graduated at the top of my class in May of 2017.   Graduating was such an honor as I worked full time and went to school full time for the past 3.5 years.  I even picked up 2 internships during that time, but all my hard work paid off and I got the top honor of being selected for New York Fashion Week in September 2017.

I have 3 months to get my collection ready.  A year has already gone into this collection and it has been widely praised, even by the likes of Vogue.com, WWD and the CFDA .  I am in the final stretch, but am affraid I will run out of money and will not be able to complete my collection.

The collection, entitled "When I grow up . . . A School Boy Fantasy,"  is a sustainable menswear collection inspired by my life.  It is an ode to youth, the military, myself and the environment.  Beyond all that, it is the first time I have been able to creatively express myself through Art and is my contribution to the world of arts.

Please support my journy to becoming a fully realized artist and allow me to showcase a collection that has been a dream of mine for as far back as I can remember and highlights such important issues in the world.
