Eden needs new legs (electric wheelchair)

Donation protected
Eden is an incredible young lady, who never lets her disabilities stop her, but unfortunately when her electric wheelchair (we always call it her legs)  breaks there’s nothing she can do about it and unfortunately this is something that is not covered by the NHS. Here’s some info from Eden herself and then her parents.

I am a 20 year old young woman who has a congenital condition called Ulrich Muscular Dystrophy, this means that I use an eclectic wheelchair all of the time which I have done since I was 3 years old and I also use a ventilator to breathe all of the time. I also have a scoliosis which was corrected as much as it could be with major surgery at the age of 9 however it means that I still have a rare shape and posture. My condition means that I have extremely week muscles that will get weaker over time, this means that I have to have a specialist control system on my wheelchair and functions on my wheelchair that mean I can height adjust it to eat, work, get dressed etc!

I have an amazing job that I absolutely love and one that I just cant believe i am actually doing!! I don’t let my disability hold me back from doing almost anything, I really don’t see myself as “disabled”! However when equipment such as my wheelchair fails me it does hit home to me that I am only independent if I’m in my wheelchair and without it I wouldn’t be able to do literally anything!

Now has come the time to start fundraising for a new wheelchair as my current one keeps failing me! You may wonder why I don’t just get a new chair from the NHS but unfortunately my disability is to severe, this means we have to get my wheelchair from specialist private companies who can provide much more adaptations and choices for my unique needs! The wheelchair that has been suggested as the right one for me does come at a price of £26,000 which I definitely wouldn’t be able to afford myself so that’s why I’m asking for a little bit of help!

Love, Eden xx

It's difficult to put into words how amazing Edens chair is , she's known nothing else. I remember the day the chair was delivered , I was dreading it , I thought this is it , my miracle wasn't going to happen Eden really was disabled . How wrong was I , the door bell rang and it was Grandma coming to see Eden in her chair . How surprised was she when it was Eden who opened the door to let her in . She had become just like her piers , it enabled Eden to hide from her physio therapist and sometimes only sometimes be a little bit naughty. Throughout Edens growing up her condition has taken gradually little bits of her , but when they disappear the chair replaces them .

love Edens mum and dad xx

we would like to raise as much money as we possibly can to help Eden get some ‘new legs’ and ensure she can keep her independence.

Thank you all
