Eden McCarthy's Fire Relief Fund

On Tuesday, September 8th, Eden, along with her dog, Hina, went to the farmer's market like any other Tuesday. Unfortunately, she never got to go home, not even to grab any of her belongings or essential items. 

The Almeda fire in Ashland, Oregon broke out unexpectedly while she was gone. The hot winds swept the fire through the towns of Talent, Phoenix, Medford, Central Point, White City, and Eagle Point as well.  One of the fire's casualties was Eden's rented home. 

I first met Eden back in the late 1990s when I hired her as an experienced licensed massage therapist for my day spa. We worked together for many years and continued our friendship and collaborations after I sold the business. She's an incredible friend to many and a well-loved community member (not to mention a phenomenal dancer of many styles!). She has supported all of my and others' endeavors—I would love to see her receive the support she deserves at this time. 

Eden continues to be a sought-out massage therapist. She adapted her practice for COVID by renting an outdoor space to work on her clients during the warmer weather months. She recently purchased many brand new items, such as a medical-grade air filter, PPE, gallons of hand sanitizer, and rubbing alcohol to name a few, to equip her indoor massage studio for the approaching colder seasons. Those were still in their boxes in her home—all of it gone now.

Funds are needed immediately. Eden is having to pull things together quickly.  Thankfully, she has temporary housing, but she'll need to find her own place. The money donated will go toward first and last rent, as well as personal items such as food and clothes. It will also be used to replace some of the mentioned work equipment.
