Eddy Sousa



Eddy is a registered nurse at JSUMC and a business co-owner at Asbury Park’s famous Vintage Subs along with his husband, Nick. He is a kind, caring and compassionate individual who is always giving back. Let’s see if we can do the same for him.

In May 2017, Eddy was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Carcinoma; a neuroendocrine tumor which is a very aggressive and rare form of cancer. Eddy has traveled as far as Seattle, Washington to seek out medical advice from experts for treatment of Merkel Cell Carcinoma. If you know Eddy like we do, he will leave no stone unturned in his tireless search for a cure. So far, he has traveled to see doctors at multiple medical facilities throughout the United States for expert advice and treatment. Currently, Eddy is undergoing immunotherapy treatment as well as a regimen of trial medication to treat his Merkel Cell Carcinoma. He already has had two surgeries to remove tumors and also has received radiation therapy in addition to numerous visits to various doctors.

Due to therapy, treatments and medical traveling, Eddy has unfortunately exhausted all his extended sick leave and most of his vacation time. To alleviate current and future medical expenses and loss of income we are hoping to raise $25,000 to offset these costs.  In an effort to help Eddy out with his expenses for traveling to see doctors at multiple medical facilities throughout the United States for expert advice and treatment and with deductibles we are setting up this Go Fund Me page.
