Eddie’s Heart Transplant & Recovery

Donation protected

This is my Dad, Eddie. He’s the best father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend. 15 years ago at the age of 45, he had a heart attack that they labeled as a widowers heart attack, because people his age wouldn’t regularly survive. It was just myself and a few neighbors who were in our back yard as it happened. Thanks to their fast actions, an ambulance made its way directly to our house. One of the paramedics happened to be our new neighbor and he took all the back roads to get there as fast as he could.
With God’s grace, my dads road has been filled with little miracles.

Since Valentine’s Day 2020, he has been admitted in the hospital due to recurrent arrhythmias. Our family was  told that his best option would be a heart transplant. We asked for second opinions, and every road led back to transplant. He was added to the transplant list within a few days, and we have been waiting at the hospital since. We were even told that he may have to go home this weekend, to wait for a heart- since his blood type typically would have a longer wait time.

I’ve been praying that whatever was meant to be would happen.

It’s a weird place to be in spiritually. You want to save the life you love, but you don’t want anyone else to suffer.

Today, he got the call. The miracle we prayed for is here. His doctors are doing the final review of the heart he’s supposed to receive, and if all is well, his surgery will begin during 2am-3am on March 5th.

We don’t know what the future entails, but we do know that even after insurance covers a portion there will be hefty hospital bills to cover. Heart transplant surgery costs about 1.2 million dollars, and we’re not at all sure just how much of it his insurance will cover. Anti-rejection medication alone can reach $2,500 monthly, which he will have to take for the rest of his life.

While my brother and I will help our parents to cover any household bills, we ask that if you can spare even $1.00, that you do so. This will help us lessen the load tremendously.

MOST importantly, please say a little prayer for him, whenever you get a moment.
