Eddie Leroy Cancer Fund

Eddie Leroy is my brother. He is an avid Florida Naturalist, spending most of his time on the water or in the Everglades. He has spent his life working hard on the water as a Tugboat Captain and in Marine Construction, but he does not have health insurance as a Self Employed Contract Worker.  He has always been able to handle whatever life throws at him, but this time, he just kept getting sicker and sicker over the last several months. In South Florida, with Covid-19 raging, that also meant not going in to the hospital for something that he thought was a virus or common illness.  It turned out to be NOT so common, unfortunately, and we desperately need your help.

He was recently airlifted via Life Flight from the FL Keys to Miami's Aventura Hospital because he couldn't breathe.  His throat was so swollen they couldn't even intubate him properly. It turned out to be a Large Tumor in his throat. He's had emergency surgery to install a Tracheostomy Tube and do a biopsy. It turned out that the Tumor is Cancerous. It is Oropharyngeal Squamus Cell Carcinoma- aka "Throat Cancer".

Eddie needs hospital care, and aggressive treatment right now. He will need further surgeries, Radiation and Chemotherapy, and many other procedures in the coming days, weeks, and months. He does not have any medical insurance and thus is facing tremendous obstacles to his treatment. He has two boys, and Siblings/ their families and friends who care about him deeply. What he doesn't have and what we can't give him (don't have) enough of- is money. We urgently need help (money) for him to immediate access to the care he needs and to have a safe place to recover and endure his treatments.  Eddie will recover if he has access to the treatments he needs. Please help Eddie pay for the treatment, accommodations, support, and services he needs to recover from this devastating 2020 blow.
