Ecotay Zero Emissions Demonstration Project

Michael Glover is world-recognized for his game-changing innovations in the housing sector.
Over the last decade he gave all his time, energy and finances to find a solution to combat the serious effects of climate change around the world. His goal was to prove that the existing housing stock can be retrofitted in such a way that only off-peak hydro would be needed to heat and cool a home. Which is necessary to achieve Canada’s 2030 goal of zero emissions, and mark the end of using fossil fuels. He has filed seven different patents that prove his solutions do achieve that goal. The zero-energy retrofit of his heritage farm at Ecotay is a proof of concept of the efficacy of this solution.
He has many collaborators that are dedicated to bringing Michael’s dream to completion: industrial designer Stephen Field, engineer Greg Allen, Algonquin College’s Heritage Trades and Building Science Programs, and Queen’s University, to name a few.
Like the Cathedral builders of old, he did not live to see his dream finished. His race to finish the demonstration project was cut short by his sudden passing on September 1st and has left unfinished work that needs to be completed before winter.
