Eco Hub Europe

Eco Hub Europe is a platform put together by the two UWC Costa Rica alumni: Geofrey Bright Kata and Andrea Uxue Sandoval-Torres with the goal of sponsoring 50 young children and teens from financially struggling families living in Latin America by the end of 2021. As a way to give back to a region that hosted and welcomed them with open arms for 2 years.

How does this relate to Europe?

Eco Hub Europe will be launching a Latin American and Hispanic school, with the first one being in Bath, UK. The school would be offering reading and writing classes in Spanish and history/cultural lessons for children and teens to develop more skills in their mother tongue, as well as being more immersed and connected to their heritage.

The school will be running once a week during the weekend with possible boot camps during the school holidays. All the profits made from this project will go into funding the sponsoring of the children in Latin America. We hope to be able to sponsor 1 child per child that joins our school. We hope to be able to expand to more locations in the future.

Where do the donations go?

We are looking for donations in order to be able to rent out a space for the classes which we estimate to be approximately £100 per month, materials such as paper, pens and colours for the classes which have an approximate price of £50 per month and lastly the opportunity of having guest speakers join us for special workshops.

As mentioned before all the profits made will go to sponsoring children in Latin America for them to receive an education and a greater chance for a brighter future.

Why support us?

Being and feeling part of your heritage can be very important to many people around the world. Especially to those who have moved countries and are therefore adapted to a different culture to their own heritage. Children who moved at a young age or were born in a different country to their parent’s heritage may find it especially hard to find a connection with their heritage, which can cause identity issues or general discomfort when socialising with family members. Often this could even rely on a language barrier

With our project, we aim to boost the children and teens self-esteem and allow them to experience and relate to the wondrous Latin American and Hispanic culture. As well as helping them develop new skills in their mother tongue, which can provide them with great advantages in their life.

We are very grateful and thankful for any support provided. Starting this project and going through with it wouldn’t be possible without the help of a wider community.
