ECHO STATION: SONGS OF HOPE FROM OPEN WINDOWS

Slowly losing your soul through social isolation? Don't worry, good vibrations, connection and fun are awaiting you.

Tune into Echo Station, brought to you by Convex in support of the charity Re-engage, working to combat social isolation and loneliness for older people.

Echo Station is a chance to sing songs of hope from your window and be part of an online participatory experience. Through songs echoing across the city, the performance aims to unite communities and reach vulnerable demographics without access to a digital device.

A bit like clapping for carers, we ask you to open your windows and connect to your neighbours and fellow humans. We guide you online to spread good vibrations to your local environment through singing together.

Convex is an artistic company led by Laura Guarch and Sarah Le Quang Sang that creates performances about the connection between people and places. We make immersive and participatory experiences that give threatened environments a voice. https://www.weareconvex.com/

Re-engage is committed to older people being heard, valued and engaged. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Re-engage are prioritising that older people stay connected and have created a new service called ‘call companions’ where guests receive regular calls from a volunteer. This is a crucial service to make sure that older people don’t feel forgotten at what is a particularly distressing time for them.  https://www.reengage.org.uk/

HOW TO TAKE PART

Echo Station is open to all - no singing experience required! All you need is an open mind. (And an open window.)

This participatory performance will be led on Zoom by artist Sarah Le Quang Sang and singer and composer Laura Guarch. Taking part is free and open to all ages and experiences, but we do encourage a minimum donation of £5 to support our charity partner Re-engage. 50% of the donations received will go directly to Re-engage.

Echo Station will take place every Thursday at 7:45pm (we'll Clap for carers together) and Saturday at 4pm in May 2020. Saturday sessions will last 45minutes. Thursday’s sessions will last 20 minutes and will focus on singing our ‘Heroes’ song to thank NHS, carers, key workers and everyone staying at home.

To join us please register HERE. You will receive a confirmation email with the zoom link to participate.
