Love for Lacey

Our niece, Lacey Loewen, is the most beautiful, smart and vibrant 11-year-old girl we know and love, who was so eager to start the sixth grade this year. On August 29th, 2018 Lacey was admitted to the Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg, with what the family initially thought was mono. A week later, on September 4th, Lacey’s family found out no news any family wants to hear. Lacey was diagnosed with a rare disease called Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). HLH is a life-threatening condition in which the immune system begins to damage the patient’s own tissues and organs, including the liver, brain and bone marrow where blood is made.

She has already undergone numerous tests and procedures. At this point, Lacey is being vigorously treated with blood transfusions, steroids and chemotherapy. Her family, parents George and Cheryl, and siblings Delilah (7), Carter (6) and Rodney (1) miss her dearly.

Cheryl has been spending nights in Winnipeg so she can be with Lacey. We are looking for donations to help with the costs incurred to them  – accommodations, food, fuel, parking, etc.

Lacey is surrounded by so much love - family and community members have been so generous in wanting to help her and her family. This is the reason we created this page.

Ed and Marge Loeppky (grandparents to Lacey) have opened an account at their local financial institution for any funds that have been donated and will be able to provide George, Cheryl & family with these funds as needed.    Any amount is greatly appreciated.
